Beyond Alvarado, the bullpen is a disaster. A lot of money thrown at it with terrible results.

In the bullpen's defense, it hasn't had much of a chance to get rhythm or rest, as it's coming on in the fourth or fifth inning nearly every night.

Still a long way to go in the season, but with how their pitching has looked, hard to be optimistic that they are going to be a playoff team

Yep, two additional things they're dealing with:
-- balanced schedule makes surges within division harder
-- some unexpectedly strong teams vying for those wild cards. I think the Diamondbacks will fall back, but the Pirates might not. Of course, the Phillies aren't even as good as the Cubs or Marlins at this point. Lot of teams to pass.
