This one will end right before my bedtime, when I'm usually exhausted and cranky.

These two starters have pitched the exact same number of innings but Sears has 5 fewer decisions, all losses. Otherwise his stats are better in every category. A's just don't win.

Btw, the "Athletics" may be the best franchise name professional sports.

Last night I learned there's an AHL team called the Coachella Valley Firebirds

I'm not saying it's a good name, just something I never knew existed.

Still trying to decide whether I like Seattle Kraken. Leaning toward no.

I think the best vanished nickname is the Cleveland Spiders.

There was briefly a Philadelphia Firebirds minor league hockey team in the 70s,

Spiders went 20-134 in 1899

The Phillies recalled OF Cristian Pache from his rehab assignment with Lehigh Valley (AAA) and reinstated him from the 10-day IL (right knee meniscus tear). To make room on the 26-man roster, OF Dalton Guthrie was optioned to Lehigh Valley following yesterday’s game.

Pache didn't hit at all in his short minor-league rehab. MIght have been better to give him a little more time.

But now he's starting as part of the magical Harrison-Sosa-Pache bottom third of the order.
