Briere and the Flyers get their main. Michkov was the target all along. There was thought they'd need to trade up to 5 to get him. Michkov falls for two reasons, 1, he's signed for 3yrs in the KHL, 2, he's Russian and there are questions whether he'll be allowed to come over. Kid is superior talent.

1/7 Matvei Michkov
Position: Right wing
Height: 5-foot-10
Weight: 172 lbs
Shoots: Left
Age: 18
Club: Sochi (KHL)
Nationality: 🇷🇺
NHL Central Scouting final ranking: 2nd among European skaters

Son of Radek Bonk. Well thought of two-way defenseman in his own right. Great passer.

1/22 Oliver Bonk
Position: Defense
Height: 6-foot-1.5
Weight: 180 lbs
Shoots: Right
Age: 18
Club: London (OHL)
Nationality: 🇨🇦
NHL Central Scouting final ranking: 20th among North American skaters

This Otto Stenberg is who the Flyers should have picked at 22. Kid is a stud. He's a Frölunda product and he's already played vs men.

Damn I am pumped.

So so glad Briere and Jones aren’t doing the old Flyer thing. Old Flyers never taken Michkov.

Would love to find a way to grab some 2nd round picks.

We have 2 1sts for next year, would love to add one more to give us another chance in the lottery. Willing to move TK to do it.

God if we somehow could get another top end forward or 1D prospect next year, we are going to be cooking

Waiting for Michkov in the KHL is no different than waiting for a college player to finish his junior year or for an 18yo to get thru juniors and play a year in the AHL.

This kid might be just a shade behind Connor in talent.

Having him in the KHL isn’t a bad thing. Let Michkov develop physically, mentally, and skills wise so that when he does come over here to play that he’s totally prepared for the expectations that he will face. Bedard is a player but the pressure that he’s going to face next year is going to be immense for an eighteen year old. Crosby and McDavid faced these sort of expectations but it seems that those facing Bedard are a bit more intense.
