Flyers signed 6-2, 196lb center/forward Ryan Poehling, 24, to a one-year, $1.4 million contract.

JVR signs with Boston, 1yr/$1m.

More purging is needed, but maybe some deals for future assets.

[The Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday signed forward Garnet Hathaway to a two-year, $4.75 million contract, new general manager Daniel Briere announced. The deal will carry a $2.375 million average annual value.]

See, this is the kind of.move that gives me hope that Briere might be a really good GM. This kind of deal gets them a hard working, productive veteran for training camp on a short 2yr deal that provides veteran leadership but also gives them a trade chip they can use at the trade deadline either this year or next that will net them an extra draft pick from a contender who needs depth for a playoff run.

Flyers signed 6-3, 230lb center/forward Rhett Gardner, 27, to a two-year, two-way contract with an AAV of $775,000.

Staal played all 82 regular-season and 21 playoff games with the Florida Panthers this year. He tallied three goals and 15 points before failing to get on the scoresheet in the postseason.]

I think Briere is showing himself to be a better GM than Morey.
