I get that point, but here is a counterpoint (just playing devils advocate) a GM like the Chiefs says they only have 1st round grades on 16-18 guys. So you either trade up if one falls or you realize that this draft is good in the 30-60 range, as Chiefs GM suggests.Or is he blowing smoke? Do you stay or do you trade back? Or move up? Just spit balling here with this post.
Eagles need to improve the D - get the 2 best players for the D available at those spots. Trading down led to the Marcus Smith fiasco
Trading up more than a few spots led to Dillard & McDougle

That McDougle pick was a disaster. Troy Polomalo a HOFer was there for the taking.

Another from that era was passing on Jason Witten for LJ Smith.
