Asshole.
Yep, Topper waived the white flag when he put in Bellati.
He has one relief pitcher that he can depend on right now - Hoffman and he can't use him every game and he obviously is not going to pitch 4 innings

Not defending Thomson, but he has a garbage bullpen and there is little that he can do.

This will be my last Phillies post until the after the season unless they prove me wrong and somehow make the playoffs. I need to emotionally detach from the potential disaster forthcoming

Many of us saw this collapse coming and what is painful is that we are still in the early stages of it. Media types online keep worrying about the playoff rotation when this team just making the playoffs should be the concern

They have collapsed 6 straight Septembers. Yes, even last year when at one point they lost 10 of 13. Luckily the Brewers collapsed as well. Then full credit to them for a magical Oct run

Too many teams will need to struggle behind them this year to survive a collapse

4-6 in Sept, and best case scenario is 5-8 by Weds, but that is only if Wheeler dominates. Lorenzen & Sanchez not likely to fare well

Yes - they have 13 with Cards, Mets & Pirates, but they just have way too many pitching issues to dominate that part of their schedule. Can only score 8+ so many games. I think that they finish with 84-85 wins max

I don't know how they can successfully fix this for next season. Outside of Wheeler, Suarez - rotation will be an issue (sorry not sold on Sanchez) and the annual bullpen overhaul seems to fall apart at some point every season. The lack of minor league talent remains a problem.

Also - their bench needs a complete overhaul. Castro is a waste. Cave & Stubbs are not good

Turner now has a higher BA and OPS than Castellanos. What a remarkable turnaround for Turner.
