Good for Hector....glad the Phils did not pay that much 2/12 is the highest IMO. But that will be a major piece that will have to be replaced, he will be missed.

I wouldn't have minded having him back, but not at that price.

With the Mets moves, Conforto is not going back to them. He is coming off a down year, but I wonder if he is an option in LF for the Phils...Would you do a 3/56M with an option for him? Or would you rather have Schwarber?
There are like no FA Center fielders left unless you want an aging Chris Taylor as your CF or Odubel Herrera....the rest are garbage
So there is a chance the Phillies spend on LF and piece something together in CF...sure would have been nice if one of those draft picks worked out

Good deal for the Astros. Would have done that easily.

What's really the functional difference? 2.5 million a year is nothing.

Of course it matters, when you only have so much to spend, 2.5M is a lot.

It's less than they paid Brandon Kintzler last year, I'll take a proven RP in the pen with the state of it over them rolling the dice on trash again and given the fact they're letting all of these reasonable RP deals pass them by they'll probably be rolling the dice on some trash again to fill out a weak position.

There is no salary cap. They can spend as much as they want and just pay the tax

Otherwise - they will just stay a 500 team with virtually no shot for the playoffs
