if kerkering or cave are in, guessing the game is out of hand either way

which would be the same for lorenzen. wasnt the same after the no hitter

I wouldn't put Kerkering in that boat. He's nasty, and the Marlins haven't seen him. I see Thomson using him for medium-leverage moments earlier in games, and if he does well he could graduate to bigger spots -- especially if they lose faith in Dominguez.

Shouldn't be necessary with Wheeler, but you can get through 7 innings with Kerkering-Dominguez-Sanchez-Kimbrel-Strahm-Hoffman-Alvarado, as the matchups warrant. Or reduce that to a 4- or 5-inning need, all decisions predicated on what part of the order is up

Hopefully not necessary the entire series, or entire playoff run.

With off days and adrenaline, it could be feasible in more games than you might think.
Far more so than Philadelphia, this will be the Dodgers' strategy in the postseason.

First questionable move by Thomson

I would have been OK with using Marsh, who's had playoff success and generally hits both righties and lefties OK.
I would have been OK with Wes Wilson there

Pache does have that .924 OPS vs. lefties this year, so maybe that's Thomson's thought.

They can also basically "bullpen game" left field: Start Pache, bring in Marsh when a righty reliever enters, and then bring in Wilson when the many lefty relievers enter.
