You trade a Bryce, Wheeler and/or JT - you should be able to get some prospects that can be part of a foundation I have zero confidence that they can evaluate talent now any better then when Amaro traded Hamels for garbageChristopher wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 1:41 amIt's not even that, really.FolesMVP09 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 1:37 am If the Phillies had a GM who could evaluate talent, I would be on board with trading anyone
"Good GMs" are primarily a function of GMs who oversee great farm systems.
You can't trade your way to a championship roster.
You draft and develop.
Trades are a crapshoot anyway, so bring on the trades no matter who the GM.

Convince Zimmerman to come out of retirement?Christopher wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 1:48 am Bohm, McGarry, Dominguez and the last year of Nola's contract for the last year of Soto's contract.
Who says no?
Then sign Turner and the Nationals reunion is in full swing.
See if the Angels want to do a bad-contracts swap with Rendon
You can get Strasburg for free if you want the contract

Yeah, realistically speaking, you can't trade everyone. Stott at 2B makes sense. I'm not even opposed to a year of Bohm at 1B while he's being paid pennies.awfulstack wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 1:50 am
The problem is the Castellanos and Schwarber contract.
They have to get out of one. Neither of those guys should be in the outfield.
The whole infield should probably go, though I’d give Stott a shot at 2nd I guess

Yeah, I'll pass on Zimmerman for, ahem, reasons.

Love that it’s setting up for Schwarber Hoskins and Harper to do nothing in the 9th

That’s fine, but the defense just has to be so much betterChristopher wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 1:55 amYeah, realistically speaking, you can't trade everyone. Stott at 2B makes sense. Team only scores multiple runs when trailing - just enough to make it close, but never enough to take the lead. If the Jays had not scored, no chance they would have
Jays will score more in the 9th regardless

One of the sad things is that they *could* have a pretty above-average rotation next year.
But the lineup, defense and bullpen are wrecks

I'd like to see a full season from Muzziotti and Marsh but, the big caveat, not both of them at the same time. You'd hope that one of them could get you to "OK" in center field.
They're gonna have to spend, spend, spend. There's no other way, because I don't think they'll punt on 2023.
Setting aside the "how," what do you think of?
C Realmuto
1B Bohm
2B Stott
SS Turner
3B Glove Guy
LF Nimmo (love his OBP, though I'm open to someone with better speed, if OBP is also good)
CF Marsh/Muzziotti
RF Harper
DH Castellanos
SP: Wheeler, Nola, Suarez, Falter, McGarry
