One thing to keep in mind is that ultimately I don't think there's a huge market for Goldschmidt, which helps the Phillies' leverage.

Who would the Phillies trade?
Some odds:

Painter: 0%
Abel: 10%
Crawford: less than 5%
McGarry: 50%
Rojas: 50%
Guy(s) we haven't heard of: 80%

I sort of hope they hold onto Rojas, and I suspect the Phillies might want to. I also hope they hold onto INF Hao-Yu Lee, though they have some infield depth in the minors.

So we talk a lot about Reading causing some misleading H/R splits, and we don't talk about Jersey Shore and RHB.
Hao Yu Lee
Home: .195/.247/.256
Away: .312/.416/.424

Giants may be looking at Verlander.

If the Mets do end up selling, that's a tough spot for the Phillies, because Canha and Pham are two of the right-handed platoon bats that I like most on the market. But I don't want to pay an intradivision rivalry premium for them.

Cahna is a certified Phillie-killer and Pham is a solid veteran, but neither one of them move the needle for me.

Well, that's the thing, though.
There are 3 types of moves:
-- stay put
-- big move (what Dombrowski is known for)
-- small moves that have a cumulative effect (like the Braves with outfielders in 2021 or the Phillies, to a lesser extent, last year)

The third option seems most likely again this year, and it's never going to be the sexy thing. But a right-handed power bat that can play LF -- even if it's just as a platoon -- is about the biggest way this team can improve right now. There's really no seismic needle-mover out there right now, short of Ohtani, and we should be wary of Dombrowski trying to get cute and force something big, like Teoscar Hernandez or Luis Robert Jr.

Ultimately, there might not be any way to overcome this brutal hat trick:

-- Turner turning into Steve Jeltz
-- Harper losing his power
-- Hoskins lost for season

That's just too much to overcome, unless the pitching staff is Top 5 in baseball

Factor in JT being on the decline and Castellanos normalizing closer to what we saw last year and it is a bad combination..

and Chris insulted Jeltz in his post; At least Jeltz was decent defensively
