All the whining from the Braves fans of the layoff
Astros had no issue 2 years in a row
All star break is 1 less day - teams have no issue,
Braves had no issues innings 6-8 Monday
Bigger issues for the Braves/Dodgers were the rotation issues due to injuries and the fact that they had meaningless games the last 2 weeks of the season

Olson, 54 HR
Acuna, 41 HR
Ozuna, 40 HR
Riley, 37 HR
Albies, 33 HR
Murphy, 21 HR
Rosario, 21 HR
Harris, 18 HR
Arcia, 17 HR
D'Arnaud, 11 HR
The Braves were scoreless in 29 of 35 innings they batted in the NLDS
They batted .186 with 4 extra-base hits.
I did not envision this even in my most optimistic outlook (before the series, I thought the best guess was Braves in 5; after Game 2 (even though we lost), I thought Phillies would win a tense Game 5, because Fried look fried)

Very impressive numbers and even more impressive that the Phillies shut it down.Christopher wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2023 1:16 pm Olson, 54 HR

Obviously everything looks correct when you win, but a lot of good points being made about how the Phillies' goals were always focused on how they were set up for October, not necessarily for maximizing regular-season wins. Alvarado was given plenty of time to get fully healthy, the Lorenzen acquisition bought them time and innings with the rotation during the dog days of late summer. They did a grin-and-bear-it with Schwarber in left field, because they knew it was important to have Harper at 1B in October, not necessarily every day in August & September. They waited until very late on Kerkering, so that he didn't get overexposed. They didn't fret about the bench as much as we did, because 80% of it won't see the light of day this month.

Spencer Strider with a masterclass on accepting defeat, responsibility:
"The people trying to use the playoff format to make an excuse for the results they don't like are not confronting the real issue. You're in control of your focus, your competitiveness, your energy. If having five days means you can't make the adjustment, you have nobody to blame but yourself."
Too bad Braves have him locked up through age 30. He'd be a nice free-agent fit here.

Philly is full of angry, joyless mutants. They are a miserable lot defined by their sports teams because that's all they have. So yeah they bring the noise. Ya won't hear a @Braves fan screaming F-bombs. We have passionate fans in ATL, but we're better people with better lives.

Stumbled upon a conspiracy theory that Acuna's hit wasn't a grand slam because ... the Phillies were using a weighted baseball against him.
Which means Kimbrel can throw a weighted baseball 96 mph
