2024 Eagles Offseason Thread - Smith Extension(4/15/24)

[The #Eagles are having trade calls on DE Josh Sweat, sources tell me and @RapSheet.

Sweat has 35 career sacks and is still only 26 years old. Philly is starting over with a new defensive staff and Sweat could be on the move.]

Looking at everything, it seems like three possibilities.

1) Fangio has a different idea on what he wants on the DL. I wonder if he's gonna run the 3-4 he ran in SF.

2) Maybe Howie is doing some early payroll work for cap management with Sweat coming up for contract next season. Maybe he's looking for the money to pay Reddick into the future and doesn't want to pay 2 DEs.

3) Maybe they're clearing a position for Nolan Smith and don't want to give Sweat an extension during the season.

A couple of ways to look at this, as it is a surprise to see Sweat's name.

The Eagles announced today that Graham has signed a one-year contract to remain in Philadelphia for his 15th season.

It's expected to be the final season for Graham, who's still a defensive captain and team leader but no longer the elite defensive end he once was. Last year Graham played in all 17 games but was only on the field for 34 percent of the Eagles' defensive snaps.]
